Why Doesn’t This Cow Manure Smell? - Aug 28, 2025
Dear gardening friends
It's spring at my place today, my Manchurian Pear trees are bursting into bloom, when I stand under this tree I hear the buzz from a thousand bees. This is Bailey's tree, I planted a tree for Dan too, it's so nice watching them grow up together.
Wouldn't it be nice if everyone had a tree planted for them, when they were born. We'd have a lot more trees in the world.
My kids asked me recently what do I want them to do when I die? "Plant a tree for me." There was silence for a while, then they said they would do that.
Spring is an exciting time of year, you will find yourself out in your garden pulling out weeds, you'll look at your lawn and garden, you'll probably decide to fertilise and to replace a few shrubs that just don't look good. Spring is a time to renew.
Your gardens will need mulching, it makes them look so much tidier and it helps stop the weeds.
Your lawn needs to be sprayed to control Clover and Bindi. We have a product here called DART. It's amazing.
It's time to renew your vegetable garden. Pull everything out and turn over the soil. Add Tim's Cow manure, one bag for every 2m2. Add Tim's FAST FOOD too. Cover with Sugarcane.
It's Tomato planting season if you live in Macarthur, and it's time to plant Tim's Fruit Fly Resistant Tomatoes. This heirloom variety has a natural resistance to Fruit fly, so you can let the fruit ripen on the vine.
The fruit is apricot sized and sweeter than honey. One plant can produce over 100 fruit. You'll be eating Tomatoes all summer long.
You can grow this disease resistant variety in a big pot using Tim's Best Potting mix. Put several stakes in the soil to support the vigorous growth. Don't remove the side shoots, let this variety grow, grow, grow. More growth means more fruit.
We have beautiful plants now for $4.99. Make sure you get a Tim's Italian Tomato too (coming soon). This variety has huge pear shaped fruit, it's a winner.
Dig a bag of Tim's Cow manure into your soil, sprinkle with Tim's FAST FOOD. Stake tomatoes when planting. They like daily watering.
Our Tim's Cow Manure has become famous simply because it's Cow manure, how crazy is that? If you've been buying Cow manure, and it doesn't look or smell like Cow manure, then it's probably not.
Suppliers have replaced up to 75% of the manure with Recycled Green Waste, because it's cheaper. You'll notice the bag is called Composted Cow manure, and it's full of sticks and has no smell.
Tim's Cow manure is real Cow manure, your plants will notice the difference because it has 100% more nitrogen, than Recycled Green Waste.
You can use Tim's Cow manure on your Rose gardens, Flowers and Vegetables. It's safe to use around all your plants including Natives. It makes your garden smell like spring.
It's only available at Tim's Garden Centre $8.99 or 4 for $34.00. We can help you load your car.
It makes your plants happy.
I was at Sydney Wildflower nursery a couple of weeks ago, I hadn't been there for years, but I was doing a delivery nearby so I called in.
It's always had an amazing feeling to me this nursery, and as I walked in through the gates that feeling came back to me. I was greeted by the staff, "Where's Dave?" I asked them.
He's in the office doing paper work.
"Oh please" was my loud reply.
He heard me, and he soon appeared.
I knew Dave's parents, they started this native nursery, they had at least a couple, this one in 9 Vino st Heathcote is my favourite. It's on a house block, there's something therapeutic about this place, it makes you feel good.
I explain this to Dave, "It's the gravel path" he tells me, the sound of crushed granite makes you feel like you're walking in the bush. It's so simple but it's magical.
We walk around the nursery, I spot a silvery hedge, its Acacia "Sterling Silver" and it looks amazing. We have this plant too, it's a more compact shrubby variety but I've never seen it used as a hedge, the silvery foliage is luminous.
We talk about business and the start of spring, Dave has big ideas, he's always positive, I like that. He sends me off to get a Pork Roll, it's within walking distance, it was amazing!!!
African Violets use to be old people plants, you had to have one foot in the grave, but now they have been discovered by the hip and happening, African Violets are back in fashion!!!!
I can't believe how cheap they are to buy, they have been less than $20 forever. You can't buy a bunch of flowers for that. They make great gifts, they come already gift wrapped.
If you buy an African violet pot we will repot it for you using Tim's Best Potting mix. They love it.
Grow your African Violets in your kitchen near the window. They like morning sun, they will take northerly sun too. Not afternoon sun.
They can outlive you, the kids will be fighting over them. Zoom zoom. These always sell out fast!!!!
OMG, I just thought about taking an African Violet home. I can picture it near the toaster!!!!
Happy gardening
Tim
