Fresh Cut Christmas Trees This Weekend. - Nov 28, 2025
Dear gardening friends
Our Fresh Cut Christmas Trees are coming this weekend. Tylor will be here to help you find the perfect tree. He helped Scott Robert's find a tree that almost looked related.
Come early for the biggest trees, they arrive fresh cut from the Southern Highlands. They smell like Christmas.
Trees cost $89.99, we have Christmas Tree stands available too. We have trees available Saturday and Sunday.
We have amazing NSW Christmas Bush just in time for gift giving season. They are huge this year. Much bigger than previous years and still great value. Just $39.99.
We can gift wrap one for you for free.
We always sell out, so don't leave us till last.
Easy parking out front.
I just taught Tylor how to graft a plant. He watched me graft a Brachychiton "Noel's surprise" onto an Illawarra Flame tree. Then I watched as he grafted his own plant.
There's a couple growing in Camden's Community Garden. They are one of the most spectacular flowering native trees, but they are almost unknown.
Originally I took a Scion from one of these trees and brought it here in a plastic bag with water splashed in it. This keeps the cutting fresh.
We take the Scion from this plant because it's already flowering. We graft plants because this makes them flower sooner. Tylor's plant could flower next year.
Lachlan, a former horticulturist, taught me how to graft and I absolutely love it. He worked here for a few years and he loved grafting Grevilleas. I haven't taken them on yet.
But I have grafted White Jacarandas, Cape chestnuts and Brachychiton "Jerilderie Reds" successfully. Lots of my grafted trees end up in up in Parks etc around Macarthur.
Tylor was so excited about learning how to graft.
I showed Josh how to graft a tree last week and it made him feel like a surgeon too.
- Scion = the top part
It's a short piece of stem or a bud taken from the plant you want to reproduce.
Example: If you want a particular variety of apple, you cut a small twig from that tree — that's the scion. - Rootstock = the bottom part
This is the plant you graft the scion onto. It provides the root system and often gives benefits like disease resistance, dwarfing, or tolerance to certain soils.
And then the Agapanthus start to flower and the green garden turns blue and green. When I planted these 25 years ago I had no idea they'd be frowned upon in the future.
They are such hardy plants, but if you leave the seed heads on, after they finish flowering, the seeds will grow wherever they fall. I go through and remove them all, it's a massive job, that takes a couple of days.
I've noticed when I'm removing these spent flowers that the garden is full of green Tree frogs. They are safe amongst the green strappy leaves.
Agapanthus flower much better in the sun, so as the trees have grown, and there's more shade they flower less. But I still love the green foliage.
There are Agapanthus varieties now, that are sterile, so they don't self seed and become weeds. Choose these varieties if you want to attract frogs and nature into your garden.
It's 10 degrees cooler when I drive under these trees. The shade they provide and the cooling effect the foliage and the grass provide, is so amazing. You feel your body relax.
Crepe Myrtle season is coming and we have a dwarf variety that's suitable for smaller gardens or large pots.
It's called Crepe Myrtle "Enduring Summer Red". It flowers non stop through summer and into autumn. Yes it has spectacular red flowers for 100 days or more.
Crepe Myrtle "Enduring Summer Red" grows 1.5ms high by 1.5ms wide. But it can be pruned in winter to any height.
It has fabulous glossy green and red foliage which is the perfect backdrop for the spectacular flowers. This fast growing shrub flowers straight away.
You'll have flowers for Christmas.
Nice plants cost $34.99
Some great news, our $50.00 Christmas Gift Cards are just $40.00. Give them to friends and family. Buy a couple for yourself. They are not redeemable until after Christmas Day. These are great value.
Happy gardening
Tim
