It Flowers For 6 Months In A Pot! - Jan 29, 2026
Dear gardening friends
We don't often think to plant Bougainvillea in pots, but maybe we should. I was doing a delivery to a customer in Ingleburn and he had a beautiful old garden, he was old too. But he wanted to show me his beautiful Bougainvillea. It had been in the pot for 20 years.
But it got me thinking how fabulous it looks with so many flowers. Lots of gardeners have a hot spot like this with bricks and paving. Wouldn't a Bougainvillea add so much colour in a big pot.
Use our Tim's Best Potting mix and your plant will be covered in flowers throughout the warmer months.
It's tropical colour all through summer.
We have the best selection of Bougainvilleas today including double flowering forms and they are all named varieties, it's Bougainvillea Heaven.
Plants cost $29.99.
Drove past this Lychee tree yesterday and it was covered in ripe fruit that are ready to eat. It made me smile because I was in Henry's Harvest recently and they had a sign about the Lychees saying "Please pay for your Lychees before you eat them".
I've never seen a sign like that above any other fruit. Lychees are delicious, that's why.
We've sold Lychee trees for about 10 years now and I've always told people they grow into beautiful small shade trees, but you might not get any fruit. I thought it was too cold here.
But alarmingly it's getting hotter and hotter in Macarthur as we remove all the trees and paddocks and replace them with houses, concrete and asphalt. It's getting warmer.
Mangoes and Lychee trees can now fruit here. So do Paw Paws and Guavas. It's like living in Queensland.
If you're going to plant a tropical fruit tree don't just dig a hole in the clay. You need to dig a bag or two of Tim's Best Potting mix into your soil. Make a raised mound.
Dig your hole through this to plant your fruit tree.
Water daily for 3 weeks. Don't fertilise, everything you need, is in Tim's Best Potting mix.
Wow have I done the right thing??? I've pruned my Fiddle Leaf Fig because it was just getting too big and it was only a matter of time before it fell over.
So yesterday I pruned it back by 25%. I've kept the cuttings to grow in a vase. They will grow roots and I can pot them up into Tim's Best Potting mix.
The remaining potted plant will sprout fresh new shoots that will be bright green and healthy. I've fertilised it with Tim's FAST FOOD Fertiliser. I give it a big drink once a week.
I live in a passive solar house so there's so much light my indoor plants grow enormous. I repotted several plants yesterday that have been in the pots way too long.
It's a great time to repot plants, come and see us for Tim's Best Potting mix and Tim's FAST FOOD.
This photo is prior to pruning.
My son Dan farmed the honey from his Beehive last week and he's selling it at the nursery for $12.99 a jar. This is liquid gold, with nothing added, it's just honey!!!
We had a customer recently who raved about our honey, she has a son who's almost allergic to everything. She was telling one of my staff members that ever since her son ate our local honey his allergies have either stopped or they have become manageable. There's no science in this, it's just a local story, but isn't that interesting?
But we all know that honey is magical and it tastes great too. My son took over managing my hive and now he's expanded to two.
Macarthur is a great place for bees because we have lots of local bush including Gum trees. The honey is a nice light golden colour and it's super sweet.
Happy gardening
Tim
