It’s Time To Plant Garlic!! - Mar 19, 2026
Dear gardening friends
It's time to plant Garlic, we've got Purple Garlic bulbs from Tasmania. Break up the bulb into cloves. Plant the cloves just below the soil into Tim's Best Potting mix or your prepared Vegetable garden. Plant Cloves 10cms apart then cover with soil. Water daily until they pop up.
Harvest your Garlic in November when the leaves start to turn yellow. Hang it up to dry and it will last up to 12 months in a cool dry place.
Save the biggest bulbs and plant them again next year. We have Purple Garlic bulbs for $3.50.
Plant it or eat it.
Ali came in with a Seniors bus group, they go on organised excursions and today they visited us. You can tell Ali is a real gardener, she loves colour!!!!
Ali told me that she came here from Thailand 50 years ago. She actually met her husband at the airport. She has loved gardening all her life, she misses Thailand, so she has filled her garden with tropical plants.
She lives in Telopea and she has the most beautiful Frangipani and Bromeliad collection she tells me. You should come and have a look, I will give you plants.
I've just Given her a cutting of a Blue Ginger plant that's growing here, and it's got beautiful blue fruit on it. It's hard to find in nurseries, so I've made a friend.
"I'll never forget you Tim".
Her husband passed away last year after a 10 year battle with cancer, she misses him. I tell her how beautiful she looks today. She smiles, I've made another friend.
It's time to grow Rosemary and it's so easy to grow. You can grow it in your garden or in a big pot, like me. I've chosen a big terracotta pot that's wide so it catches the water when it rains. This hydrates the potting mix to help keep it moist.
I'm growing Rosemary "Blue Lagoon" it has these long stems and the foliage is full of oils, it's so fragrant!!!! You can prune it to any shape or just let it grow. The more you pick the faster it grows.
It grows best in a sunny position, it's super hardy in the ground, but you will have to water it, in a big pot like this, at least twice a week, more often in summer.
Rosemary is the most flavoursome herb, I use it all the time in the kitchen, it makes your food smell and taste delicious.
We have Rosemary in the nursery, and don't forget to use our Tim's Best Potting mix. It contains all the goodies to make your plants grow faster.
Gardeners are always looking for plants to grow in pots and they often don't know if the plant will get full sun or morning sun. This is the reason why so many people kill their plants.
But there is a plant that will grow in sun or shade and it flowers non stop throughout the year!!! It's called Euphorbia "Somona". It's covered in these bright red flowers, and it only grows 40cms high.
It's perfect for pots and you will have this plant forever. You can grow it in the sun or semi shade. It loves growing in pots or in your garden.
It's a plant that just makes you feel happy. This plant will try so hard to keep you smiling. Pot it into a bigger pot using Tim's Best Potting mix. It will grow bigger and get even more flowers.
This plant is almost death proof in Sydney and Macarthur. It won't grow in cooler places like Goulburn.
This is the perfect plant for new homeowners who have no idea what to plant. Yes it has thorns but so do roses. They won't worry you, because they are covered by foliage.
"Somona" costs $24.99. This is one of my favourite plants and it makes a great gift.
