5 Strawberry plants for $8.50! - Jul 01, 2022
How to make a Lamb Curry?
Dear gardening friends
Fruit trees have arrived.
Last year we sold out of Apple trees so quickly due to Covid. Everyone decided they were going to grow their own fruit and vegetables. The world was coming to an end.
We all survived, well most of us did.
If you still want to grow Apples, we've got the dwarf varieties that are better suited to smaller gardens.
You need cross pollination from another Apple tree to get fruit. One Apple tree just doesn't work.
We've got compatible varieties.
If you plant a Pink Lady Apple tree you'll need a Gala, Granny Smith or Red Fuji nearby.
We also have the full range of Summer Fruit trees here now including Plums, Apricots, Pears, Peaches, Nectarines, Persimmons, Figs, Mulberries and Pomegranates.
Fruit tree prices start at $54.99.
We have 100s.
We have potted up all our Fruit Trees into bigger pots using Tim's Best Potting Mix. This means you can plant them now, or wait till your gardens ready.
To have success, plant your fruit trees in raised garden beds or on mounds of Planting Compost improved soil. If you dig a hole in the clay and plant them you will never have success.
We have a bigger selection of dwarf fruit trees this year. Berries and Kiwi Fruit vines.
Come see.
Strawberries plants come bare rooted too.
We've got 5 plants in a packet for just $8.50. Take these out of the packet ASAP and plant them in pots or gardens.
If you're growing them in pots use our Tim's Best Potting Mix. It's just $12.00 for a 30litre bag. You will be amazed how fast these Strawberry plants grow. It's the best time to plant them. You'll be eating Strawberries in spring.
If you're planting them in your garden improve the soil first by digging in one bag of Tim's Cow Manure per 3m2.
Mulch with Sugarcane then plant your Strawberry plants through the mulch.
Water daily for a week or two.
Get the kids to help you.
My son Dan rolled his eyes this morning, "not again".
Yes I've got the Slow Cooker out.
It's so cold, it just makes you want to eat, eat.
I've been inspired by "Rick Stein in India."
I've got to go there one day.
The place is so colourful.
Even the food.
I'm making a Lamb Curry today.
I've chopped up 6x Lamb Griller chops into pieces, and dusted them in flour.
They are sitting in the bottom.
I've added roughly chopped Onion, Garlic, Eggplant, Leek, Potato, Sweet Potato, 4x Anchovies, 2x Cans of Tomatoes and 3x Table spoons of Green Valley Spices Special Curry mix. Add 2x cups of water or Chicken stock. A handful of Sultanas.
Yes.
I'm going to cook it on low all day.
When we come home from soccer tonight, the house will smell amazing.
I'll serve it with white or brown rice.
I'm still contemplating that.
We've got a Rice Cooker.
When it first arrived, I thought what a waste of money. But it's brilliant.
The rice is so fluffy.
Especially long grain.
"The Window Cleaner" sounds like the title for a saucy movie you might find on SBS.
I was walking up Queen Street yesterday morning and I spotted this guy about to start cleaning a window.
I've been watching him cleaning windows for years. He's a hard worker and you can tell he takes pride in making them shine.
I feel like I know him.
I've said hello often, and he always smiles and says hello back.
Yesterday I stopped to take his photo. You've been cleaning windows in Queen Street for a long time, it must be 20 years or more, was my opening.
"I've been cleaning windows for 11 years,
I started in 2011."
Wow, how can you know that?
"I just do"
Rinaldo Kaligis owns Squeaky Clean.
He lives in Narellan. He told me he cleans windows in Campbelltown, Narellan and Gregory Hills.
He lives at home with his father, his mother has just passed away he told us. Yes one of his customers has stopped to talk to him too.
I go to leave and Rinaldo calls me back. "Take that photo again, I had this rag in my pocket and it was making me look fat"
What are you talking about.
I've made you look like a model.
We both laughed.
There's so many interesting people.
I like finding them.
Spring is only 6 weeks away.
Yes it starts around the 14th of August for us. You've got time to plant a few Roses and Fruit trees while they are still sleeping.
We have our biggest selection now.
It's time to prune your roses too.
If your secateurs are blunt bring them in.
Tyler will sharpen them for you in 5 minutes.
We sell great quality secateurs here too.
Our nursery is looking fabulous with all the spring stock here now.
Come see.
