Autumn is the best time to garden! - Mar 11, 2022

We've got something new for you!

Dear gardening friends.
Well you won't have to water your plants!
Wow we've never had this much rain.
And it's come at the perfect time.
Right at the start of Autumn.

You'll never get a better time to garden.
The soil is still warm and it's so moist plants are going to take off. Dead plants might even come back to life??

Do you believe in miracles?
We've had Crepe Myrtles since June. They came to us bare rooted, and we potted them up.

They didn't shoot when spring came.
They've done nothing for 8 months!!!
They were still green under the bark but that was the only sign of life.

We've had them out the back.
I've been going to chuck them out 100 times. But?

Well, we've had this rain and bang, kapow they sprout new growth.
They are sprouting like it's spring.
These trees never gave up.
Rain brings life.
You wait and see what happens in your garden this week.

But some plants don't like all the rain.
Geraniums and Roses look terrible.

I've just cut back all my Geraniums by 50%.
I've cut back all our Roses bushes too.
They were covered in spotty leaves.
They don't like all that rain.
I could spray them with fungicides?

But what these plants really need is a good prune. It lets the sunshine in, and the new growth will be disease free.

Prune back your Roses and Geraniums now.
Mulch the soil with Tim's Cow Manure.
Fertilise with Tim's FAST FOOD.
You'll be amazed how your plants respond.

Your Roses will burst into bloom within two weeks, and flower right through autumn and early winter. So will your Geraniums.

Collectors plant alert.
Clerodendrum nutans has spectacular butterfly like, white flowers, throughout autumn. The foliage is lush and green and tropical.

This hardy shrub thrives in shady gardens. It likes morning sun, and the shade. It's easy to grow.

If it gets hit by the frost prune it back in early spring and it will reshoot from the ground.

It can be grown in a big pot and you just prune to shape. The flowers really are amazing. The green foliage really makes the white veil like flowers pop.

We have large plants covered in flower buds about to burst. They would make amazing floral gifts.
Plants cost $26.99
That's a bargain.

Gary Luke loves plants.
He comes into our nursery at least three times a week. He loves indoor plants especially, he has over 100 in his collection.

This week he came in looking for something new. I walked around with him, "Na I've got that" was something I heard often.

I showed him a new Ficus, that we've never had before, it comes from the highlands of New Guinea, but it just didn't tickle him.

I knew about Gary, before I met him. Mike Giles discovered Gary at Lowe's. Mike was in there buying suits, and this young guy named Gary gave him the best service ever.

"Mate you've got to come and work with me" was Mikes response.
"You should be in realestate."

Gary worked for Mike for 10 years before moving to Richardson and Wrench. He's been very successful.
Mike was right.

Gary has a beautiful house in Menangle with his wife and two kids.
He loves life, he's always smiling.
He makes you smile too.
He's got energy.
More than the rest of us.

He's got so many indoor plants he's moved them outside too. This can be dangerous because indoor plants are tropical, so if they get cold in winter, they can die. Gary's already thinking about a curtain that he pulls down at night, to keep them warm.

He paid $98.00 for one leaf recently.
It was a rare indoor plant he bought online. His wife thought he was crazy.
But it's growing. He used Tim's Best potting mix.

Eventually he found a plant that tickled him. A Cissus discolour.
It has amazing foliage.
He loved it, his face lights up.
One more for the collection.

We have some exciting new Grevilleas that have just arrived from Kings Park Botanic Gardens. Kimberley Moon is the latest new release. It has orange toothbrush flowers all year. We only have 10 plants so you'll have to hurry.

We've also got new stock of Grevillea Scarlet Moon. This is one of my favourite Grevilleas of all time. It has beautiful grey foliage and scarlet toothbrush flowers throughout the year!!!!

Grevillea Scarlet Moon grows 1.5ms high by 1.5ms wide. It's the perfect size for today's courtyard sized gardens. The flowers look amazing with the grey foliage backdrop.
It's a winner. Plant one now and the native birds will love you.
There's never been a better time to plant.

Tylor's been selected to try out for a movie. It's big, it's mad. We can't say what it's about. But they wanted tall skinny kids.

He'll have to get his head shaved, which is a shame because we love his red hair. They might change their minds when they see it.

He's been working "the look" here at the nursery. Kieran has been giving him tuition.
Get his autograph while you can.
Tylor's going to be famous.
