New Camellias Have Arrived!!!!! - Jun 23, 2023

Dear gardening friends

Its been so cold this week and you probably don't feel like going outside but we've noticed that it gets warm enough to garden around 10am.
We've also noticed that Camellias are flowering better than ever this winter. They love water and they got heaps in spring and summer and that's why they are performing so well.

Camellia sasanquas flower first and then the larger flowering Camellia japonicas start. We've got both varieties here at the nursery and we've got some fabulous new varieties that you will love.
Some of them even have amazing perfume.

The good news is that Camellias make fabulous potted plants too. You don't have to own a garden to grow Camellias. They always look lush and green, and then the flowers come through autumn and winter, when you need colour in your garden the most. Come and see our selection.

Use our Tim's Best Potting mix to get them thriving. They also love Tim's Cow Manure if you need to improve your soil. Camellias don't like clay, so raise up your gardens, using our bagged Garden Mix. This is a great product.
It contains compost, fertilser, gypsum and river sand, for drainage.

I was in Bunnings yesterday buying electrical tape, when I noticed the lady in front of me, had a trolley load of Garden Basics Australian Standards Premium Potting Mix. She was buying a Rose bush too. God I thought to myself, and I'm not religious, someone has to tell this lady, that if she buys this potting mix, she's going to get similar results to us?

We've recently done a potting mix trial here at our nursery, on eight bags of Australian Standards Premium Potting mix. Only two passed the test.
The one in this photo ran last, by a long way.
A long long way.

I showed her our story in the carpark,
She saw the video, she was horrified of course.
I told her to take it back and swap it for Scott's Osmocote Premium Plus. It's the best potting mix Bunnings sell. Our trial has proved that.
But who's looking after these poor customers?
Ic they buy this potting mix they will never have success.

We still have Spathiphyllum "Picasso". This fabulous indoor plant has green and white leaves that look sensational. Put one of these in a bright spot inside your house and it will filter the air inside your home and remove dangerous toxins given off by carpets and paints etc. It's just so simple. That's what plants do, they make dirty, dangerous air, clean again. You need around 8 plants inside your house to get clean air.

Get a Spathiphyllum "Picasso" and it will start cleaning straight away. Make sure you plant it in a bigger pot, using Tim's Best Potting mix, so it reaches its full potential.

Remeber those autumn leaves that I raked up from the car yard next door? They were Manchurian Pear tree leaves. Well I took them home during the week and fed them to Charlie's Cows. They absolutely loved eating them.
Why don't farmers plant more trees in their properties? The Cows get shade and they get more food. It just makes sense.

It's time to plant deciduous trees, and we've got new stock here waiting for you. We have lots of varieties that grow fast and don't get too big.
Come and see our selection.

More Rose Bushes turned up this week including Standard Roses. These are Rose bushes on long stems. They do look spectacular when you plant them down the driveway or across the front of your house. We have all your favourite varieties and we are taking 25% off the marked price this weekend, so zoom zoom.

Our nursery is filling up fast with winter stock.
Now is the best time to plant Roses, Fruit trees and Spring Blossom trees. Come and see us for advice. We love to help you choose the right plants.

Happy gardening
Tim
