Spathiphyllum “Picasso” has arrived! - Mar 24, 2023
Dragon fruit makes you run fast?
Dear gardening friends.
Just arrived!!!
Spathiphyllum "Picasso".
They are even more spectacular in real life. Some of the best grown plants we've ever seen. Huge green and white leaves!!!
This is a collectors plant.
We have 65 left.
The staff have been buying them too.
Plants cost $49.99.
They are going to sell out fast!!!!
They will need repotting into bigger pots. Choose a ceramic pot from our fabulous range, and we will repot it for you for free, using Tim's Best Potting Mix.
Spathiphyllum's are some of the hardiest indoor plants on the planet. Grow yours in bright light, and water once a week.
If your cat eats plants, give this one a miss.
Zoom zoom.
The African Curry was a huge success.
So easy to make, and so healthy too. Dan's got lunches for at least 5 days.
It's so cheap to make, and it's so delicious. I cooked 10 Chicken drum sticks. It fell off the bone. I actually added another half a tablespoon of Green Valley Malaysian Curry.
It had warmth, without burning the lips. Kids would eat this. Dan gave it 8/10. Bailey is out tonight. Don't forget to add the Coconut cream before serving.
Earlier post-
I bought Chicken drum sticks from Safi's Chicken shop in Campbelltown mall yesterday. Safi is one of the Volley ball boys. He wasn't there.
I bought Malaysian Curry from Green Valley Spices. It's next door.
I had this Curry once in Manly.
This is my version.
2x Chicken drum sticks per person. ( I had 10)
1x Eggplant, 1x Potato, 1/2x Sweet potato, 1x Onion, 1x Celery stick, 1/2 lemon, Garlic, Pepper, 3x Anchovies, Handful of Sultanas, dried Apricots and Green Olives. 2x big cans of Tomatoes. Table spoon of Malaysian Curry powder. (Chop up things)
Cook all day on low, in the Slow cooker. Stir in a can of Coconut cream, 20 mins before serving with Basmati rice.
It's a winner.
You'll have left overs for school lunches. Buy plants with the money you save.
Hayden and I visited Lily today, in her garden. We came away loving Lily.
She has an amazing garden.
Nearly everything, is growing in pots. She's a plant collector, so there's lots of Succulents and Bromeliads.
She can't stop touching the leaves as we walk. She tells us "she loves them all, and she talks to them too".
Most of her potted plants can survive on little water. She catches the rain from her roof to water them.
She has Lotus growing in ponds. She loves the flowers on these and she also harvests the roots and eats them. She says they are like Sweet Potato but much nicer.
She grows vegetables too.
She is very proud of her veggie patch which she constructed using bricks.
She harvested over 100 melons, that she cooks and they become like spaghetti.
"But much better" she says.
She grows Chilli's too, and when Hayden said he liked Chilli's, she quickly filled his pockets.
Chokos and Pumpkins vines sprawl over fences. It's a bit wild looking, but they produce so much fruit.
But her pride and joy is the "Dragon Fruit". It's carefully grown over a support system to keep them up off the ground. These sweet tasting fruit are very fashionable at the moment. I tell her they are $9.00/kg but she corrects me and says they are $9.95!!!
She tells us that her friends have been waiting to get fruit, but Lily wanted us to see them first.
She starts picking fruit, "you have to twist them" she says. It's 6 then 12 then 16. Apparently 6 is the lucky number for Chinese. So it was 6, 6 then 16. We've got more fruit than the Fruit shop!
Then it's inside for coffee and home made Pasties. She tells us stories about lost love ones. This is good therapy for her and us. We get so busy in our lives we can't stop and listen anymore. Someone is texting me non stop. They don't know it's Lily time.
Eventually we escape. We will have to bring bags next time. We simply can't carry all the produce. We've got chocolates too.
We donate a bag of Tim's Best potting mix that's been floating around in the van for months. It's a token gesture.
Lily has out given us 100/1.
We get cuddles.
Yes.
She's smiling so much it's infectious!!!!
If you're looking for a colourful border plant that's easy to grow its hard to beat "Little Ruby". This neat growing compact variety has these beautiful purple leaves that contrast beautifully with the green foliage of other plants like Buxus. Hayden has grown us plants here to sell to you. They are beautiful plants. You'll need 3 per metre.
Come see.
It could be the greatest weight loss fruit on the planet. One of our staff has fallen in love with Lily's "Dragon Fruit". Let's call him Barry.
Barry has noticed he has to rush to the toilet within an hour or so, after eating one.
"They are very filling" he's been quoted, "But they go straight through you."
We've had to ring the makers of Glen 20 to find out when Glen 40 is coming out?
Glen 20 tries to get back in the can.
Barry is very apologetic, but he's loosing so much weight it's ridiculous. He's given up the gym. He's looking wafer like. The Cat walk's only a matter of time.
Barry claims it's the tiny seeds inside the fruit. It's like eating passionfruit, but the seeds in Dragon fruit are even smaller.
It's going to be beautiful gardening weather this weekend. Come and see us.
It's time to fertilise your lawn again.
Tim's "Rapid Results" will make your grass thick and green before winter so there's no room for winter weeds to grow.
Fertilise Roses and Citrus trees now.
Fertilise all your gardens with Tim's FAST FOOD Fertiliser. It's what we use.
Our nursery is looking fabulous.
Autumn is the best time to plant.
