Warm Your Legs With An Onkaparinka? - Jun 05, 2025

Dear gardening friends

I just had a customer drive from Willow tree to buy two bags of Tim's Best Potting mix and two bags of Tim's Cow manure. We had a lovely chat, I discovered Willow tree is an hour from everywhere. Well it's an hour from all the places I knew.

It only has one shop, and it's actually not even a shop, it's a pub. And it has a famous restaurant called The Graze. Apparently people hop on a train and travel here just to have lunch, then they travel back home.

I looked up Willow tree and the town fitted inside the photo, I asked my customer to point out her house. We had a laugh, she loves her house and it was so cheap to buy. But she does miss shops!!!

I had another guy drive from Manly last week to buy 20 bags of Tim's Best Potting mix. He does landscaping in Manly. He was actually from South Australia but he ended up here, after he fell in love. He's going to be in love with our potting mix now.

We are open every day over the Long Weekend. God save the King! Sunday and Monday 9-4pm.

It's time to spray Clover and Bindi. I sprayed my lawn yesterday with DART. I used it last year it's amazing. It's a selective weed killer you can use on Buffalo, Couch and Kikuyu.

Mix 50mls in 2-5 litres of water. Add a squirt of dish washing liquid. It makes the spray stick better.
Spray your lawn which you haven't mown for a week or so. Don't mow for 7-10 days after. It's best to spray again the following week to knock Clover on the head. Yes it's hard to kill.

DART even knocks Creeping Oxalis. This is very hard to kill in lawns. Spray when there is no wind please. Lawn has to be dry, so don't spray early in the morning.

Some of you won't spray lawns for weeds because you don't want to kill bees etc. I'm happy about that too. Up to you.

I was watching Instagram and something came up about a gardener who plants the leeks back in the ground after she's eaten it and they grow. This could be revolutionary!!!!

So I paid $2.50 for a Leek at Woolies and I used it to make an amazing slow cooked curry. I used all of the Leek except the base, with the cut off roots. I planted that in the garden and it sprouted new growth, within days.

Yes I love recycling, and now I'm recycling vegetables!!!

I know you can grow Pineapples by planting the tops in pots. They are just Bromeliads. You could probably plant Celery.

Of course the secret is to have amazing soil. How do you get that? Dig Tim's Cow Manure into your soil, then mulch with Sugarcane. The worms in your neighbourhood move through the soil into your garden. They chant and sing on the way.

Worms love moist soil that's full of organic matter. The worms take Tims Cow manure and move it into your soil via worm castings. They tunnel holes through your soil and aerate it. Worms improve your soil. If you've got worms, tell your friends.

Remember how I bought those two Onkaparinga blankets from Lifeline in Camden. It's become a bit of a problem. I've since discovered that Onkaparinga weren't the only Australian company who made 100% woollen blankets.

In Victoria they had the "Travel Mate" made by Warrnambool. I've only recently discovered these.
They come in amazing colours and they are super warm. Each blanket is named so you can collect them. It becomes a bit dangerous.

I'm the only one sitting here with an Onkaparinga around my legs in Queen Street. You can buy them for about $45.00. They will change your life.

The Red Scarfs are back!!!!!! I've had the Scarf factory in full production this week, it was freezing. Tylor stood and watched me.

Every year we sell these amazing warm Red Scarfs to raise money for charity. They cost just $10.00, and all money raised goes to The African AIDS Foundation in Camden.

The 2025 model is even warmer. They stop the warm air escaping. They make you look great. I wear mine all winter. I gave Tylor one just for watching.

They are on our shop counter now. I bet you wish you had one right now. It was snowing on Mt Annan this week.

Happy gardening
Tim
